Welcome. Welcome to Master Metabolism. I am here tonight with just Calvin, not only. you know, we wanted to bring up something that we have been seeing a lot lately and educated on our end more about GLPs and GIPs and these weight loss drugs that many people are taking. ⁓ And felt it was really necessary to be able to get some content out, to be able to ⁓ educate Calvin Masters: What's going on everybody? Calvin and Brooke Masters: so we can chat about your goals and how we can help support you. forget to join our Facebook group where we're sharing coaching tips, support, and tricks to help keep you on track and continue making progress. You don't have to do this alone. We're here to walk with you ⁓ step of the way. Until next time, stay consistent, stay kind to yourself, and keep mastering your metabolism. Brooke Masters: And so people understand that these are tools and they are really powerful tools. They've been around for a very long time, but I think the problem is, they are being handed out without instructions, without warnings, without understanding how it works and why you would choose one versus the other, who these medications are. Calvin and Brooke Masters: hosted by our team of expert coaches with proven strategies, science-based tips, and real life encouragement, not just to help you lose fat, but actually create that lifestyle that you love. You've tried everything. Now, let's try what actually works. This is your turning point. Let's go. Brooke Masters: actually who they were developed for. ⁓ you understand the how the drug works ⁓ what your issues are, I think those two things together and understanding how to use them properly ⁓ really ⁓ a coach, what we want to be able to get out there. So, you know, just looking at it from the lens ⁓ like a competitor, when we diet, we diet hard and it's very stressful because you have to shut off the food noise yourself. Calvin and Brooke Masters: Let's do this together. Brooke Masters: With these drugs, a GLP, so something like semaglutide, will shut off that food noise. You won't get those same messages. You won't feel that same hunger. And the GIP, which is something, and some of them are twofold, a GLP and a GIP like trisepidide. So those, a GIP is something that slows your digestion down. So you have something that shuts up noise and slows food digestion. Now you feel full, you don't have hunger. So what typically happens is people go really hard and really low calorie without understanding what they need to do to protect themselves and how these things can be dangerous for certain people. So like I said, it's a tool, but looking at labs first, I always tell people, You want to look at what the issue is, what the root cause is. Because if you have something that matches up that needs something like that, great. But there are other things that are contraindications. So the positives when you're looking at it of someone that has a lot of food noise, somebody in perimenopause that is hungry all the time because those cues are off from stress, some of these can be powerful. But understanding why I think is definitely something helpful. Calvin Masters: Yeah, I think, I think there's a much needed conversation for sure. You know, this is a great, great tool for the person that needs it for sure. You know, but it has to come with responsibility and that's understanding how to use it. So, you know, I do want to keep this podcast fairly short so we don't overload you with information so you can kind of get what you need and take it away. But we do want to kind of cover some bases that are pretty important because what we don't want these peptides to turn into. is something that people actually become addicted to. You know, that's a big consideration. It's one of those things that we're just not hearing people talk about this. But we have a tendency, you know, in our, in how we're raised and how the evolution of us humans are to keep finding ways to make things easier and easier. You know, I don't know, I don't want to date myself too much, but I know when I was a kid, we, ⁓ was lucky enough to have a color TV, but we had to get up and actually change the channel on the TV and adjust Brooke Masters: Yes. Calvin Masters: of ceramic ears to get the reception all that. now, you know, it's remote control is this and that, you know, so that's just kind of how our lifestyle is. And so it makes sense that when something like this comes around. that there's going to be a lot of people going after it, you know, because here's the truth. Dining can be very hard, you know, and it can become complicated. It's not always as easy as just cutting calories. I think we've all kind of learned that and understand that, you know, because the body is very dynamic thing and it's, ⁓ you know, It can be complicated. So the thing of it is, is something like this can really help somebody get over humps. can help somebody that's morbidly obese, somebody that looking for a better lifestyle. But we want to understand, and you know, when you go into something like this, one is do you have an addictive personality? Something to consider with this, because what you don't want to do is be on this forever. You know, this should be done in cycles until you don't need it. Brooke Masters: Yes. Calvin Masters: but it's not something that you want to use you lose the weight. And then all of sudden you gain a little bit back and you go back on it, you know, or you just stay on it. I've, I've heard doctors and, and, you know, clinics say that you can stay on this all the time. This is not true. I don't want anybody to think that you should not do anything that you're putting into your body like that all the time. you know, so you want to be smart going into it. If you do that, then you're going to get good results and it's going to get the job done for you. But you want to kind of lay out the foundation and make sure that it does work well. So it will like like Brooke was saying, it will control appetite, it will control cravings and it will help you drop body fat. And the newer generations, she mentioned semi-glutide, which is one of the earlier generations, you know, it goes way back. And these keep on progressively getting, I guess you could say better, ⁓ know, more, more complicated. do more, ⁓ know, as a, as they come, you know, tris, appetite was a second to last. And that went into red at true tide, otherwise known as GLP three, right? So which added the glucagon aspect. ⁓ that was in my opinion, a great, great addition for this because it kind of works with people that are stressed to be honest with you, the way that tris appetite didn't. And most I've seen. I have weight issues because of stress, you know, one form or the other. So this is something that really does help that. with that being said, ⁓ It can work, but there's also we have to look at the other side and understand that this can also cause a big mess too. If it's not done properly. And this is another thing you're not hearing a lot of people talk about, you know, because look, people are making money on this or selling them. They're not going to tell you the negatives. They'll cross that bridge when it comes, right? But wouldn't you like to know ahead of time how to actually get a good experience with it? know, so one thing I would say first and foremost, is you need to lay out the foundation, you know, before you get on it, you know, so I would highly, highly recommend running blood work. And I'm not talking a partial panel that you get at your check in. I'm talking a full complete panel that shows you a full thyroid TSH on blood work is not a full thyroid. The full thyroid panel is going to show you T4, reverse T3. These are very important. you know, when you're going to be using something that could possibly down regulate your metabolism. So if, for example, if you have low T three, which is the functioning part of your thyroid, that kind of represents metabolism, if that's low, and then you see reverse T three is high, ⁓ that's showing stress, that's showing a down regulation in your metabolism and stress. So now you throw a GLP on top of this and you take those calories away, you're going to add fuel to the fire. You're going to make that worse. and set yourself up for possible thyroid issues, hypothyroidism, and it can grow. And you might not know if you're getting the labs until that TSH is off. And at that point, guess what? It's too late. So these are things that you want to check first. And if your practitioner doesn't order that, you can reach out to us. We have places where you can order a full panel, and we can read these panels to you so you understand it thoroughly. Brooke Masters: way. Because there is, there are phases, you know, there are phases to it, just like everything else. And, you know, if you know that a body is super inflamed, if you are putting a medication like that in when the body's inflamed, it's not going to work to its fullest potential. So sometimes you have to go in phases where you bring that inflammatory response down first. just like with hormone replacement, any type of hormones that you're putting in the body, any type of things that are going to communicate, if your cells are super inflamed and you can see that on a complete set of labs, when you have that information, you know, okay, phase one, I need to get the inflammation down on this body. And there are other peptides that can do that. There are other ways to be able to do this, but having a coach to be able to recognize that and guide you with that phase of the process. And then yes, having the GLP-GIP put it in there, it's a crutch. That's how you want to think of it. It's what I need right now while I am healing. While I'm healing my relationship with food, while I am healing my health, that is what is there to help me along so that in during this process I have the help that I need so I can be successful. So when I get to the end, and again we can get into the foundations like your nutrition and what that needs to look like. weight training, having sodium, potassium, magnesium, and certain nutrients. Because when you don't give the body food and there is less calories, you want to think of it like a car, right? If you don't give your body enough gas, you are not, it's going to find fuel somewhere. So that's where you're seeing all these episodes of people with bone loss, people with losing their hair, things going on. That is because the body is now in survival mode. So if you learn how to fuel the body, what foundations need to be in place to be able to protect your systems and how to eat properly while you're on the drug, then you can have great results. And then at the bottom, you start, if you want to come off, you say, okay, cool. Let me have a coach that can guide me. So as I start bringing my calories up, I bring the drug down, bring my calories up, bring the drug down because I've seen a lot of people also, they'll just say, well, I can't afford it anymore, so I'm just gonna stop. that's gonna be really hard. And you're gonna see some results. It's kind of like when you see these people that are competitors that they get out of the show and they just go bananas and you see these horror stories that they gain 25 pounds in like a week, two weeks. this is kind of the same, you downregulated your system, you put it in a place that it doesn't know what to do. Calvin Masters: Yeah, you get it out of the stress zone. So, you know, there's like, for example, like, you know, some of the things that we do with somebody that's considering something like this is we have them go through phases, you know, and these phases can move pretty quick, but we have when the first phase where we're going to go in and we're going to kind of clear out some inflammation and excess blood sugars, you know, and bring them back to insulin sensitivity as close as we can get to it. And then we typically follow it up with what we call a flush. And that's where we kind of blast the system with nutrients. So we clear out and then we blast the system with nutrients and it brings back in and I, you know, we use the same flesh to help women get their cycles back and, and increase testosterone levels and that. So there's many functions for it, but in this case, what we're doing is optimizing the body as much as possible, ridden the inflammation out prior to the peptide that they get the most out of it. ⁓ thing to understand with peptides is that they work by signaling. within your body. And that's pretty much how hormones work in general. You know, so when there's inflammation in the body, you're going to develop, ⁓ you can develop resistance, you know, like if you've heard of like leptin resistance sets, you know, when the signal is not clear and it's not receiving it properly, leptin is the gatekeeper of fat loss. So if that's not getting a clear signal, guess what's not going to happen. You could be doing cardio, pulling the calories down, doing all the things, but You're not dropping and it's not that you're necessarily doing anything wrong. You just have an inflamed body that's stressed out and inflamed for whatever reason. And if that doesn't get cleared up, this is going to be an ongoing issue for you. So we cover the bases prior to the peptide as much as we can do through food. And then the next step, depending on the person, this circles back around to the labs, depending on what we see on the labs. Is it depends what the next approach is going to be. Sometimes you need to go in and clean things up. If there's a gut issue, if there's SIBO, H. pylori, any of these things going on, you know, if you're not going to the bathroom every day, that's something that needs to be addressed before you go on this. Is there a gallbladder issue? You know, when you have fats, do you get acid reflux? You know, are you having digestive issues from that? That's something that needs to be considered before you go on a GLP because that can and will slow digestion down to a certain which will amplify all these things and make them worse. So even if you do lose weight, what happens is you're shifting the problem and you're moving things around. It's kind of like going in and a... in a dirty room and just instead of cleaning the room and cleaning it out, you're just kind of pushing everything to the one side, but the mess is still there. You just moved it, you know, so and which those things and Karen when you're done is going to circle back around and cause you to not only bring the weight back, but have pretty serious issues. So, you know, we want to address that and some things once you do that process like we do with the reset, the insulin reset and the flesh, you have it, you have a nice canvas to work on now. So now your body takes to peptides well. So you might need something to clean up the mitochondria first. And that's something too that a lot of people don't address prior to it. You know, and ⁓ helps. So it helps the other things work well. So there are things you can couple up with it, but I prefer to run one prior to it if we can, if we have that within the timeframe and then then go into it. So that way when you do hit the GLP, you're going to get great response as long as you work on fixing the lifestyle changes that got you to put that weight on in the first place. This I can't stress enough. This is something that you probably will need to work on while you're on the GLP. But probably the biggest mistake I see with people that go on these, and this is going back to when first came out, know, those Zempik and everything. What was happening was nobody was changing their bad habits. ⁓ You they're still going out and eating the cheeseburgers and all that stuff, you know, and they're not changing that. So this brings in the in-plane body, right? But also at the same time, you got to remember when you come off of this GLP, it's not that it didn't work and that you have to stay on it. You, the trick is to have your body in a good place and change the bad habits. So when you come off, you keep the weight off. If you're gaining weight back after you come off of a GLP, it's most likely going to be that because you didn't change the habits that caused you to gain that weight in the first place. So you know what to expect, you know, coming from that, it's not the GLP's fault. It's the... Brooke Masters: And I've heard people that'll say that they didn't lose weight. They tried it and they didn't lose weight. I've heard that also, but you have to ask yourself, Was your system super inflamed so it wasn't working properly? You know, were you not having that same response? So I have some people that, you you have to understand that if you're not having the response, it doesn't mean to turn the drug up. It doesn't mean that you have to take more. If you have to keep turning it up, you have to look at was there something that wasn't addressed in the beginning? Was there a process or something going on in the body that you didn't fix first? So now when you started it, well, it didn't work. Well, then let's see what was going on. Maybe you had a gut issue. Maybe you have a thyroid issue. Maybe you have, you know, an issue with your gallbladder. Maybe you have a detoxification issue. So if you don't fix the foundations first, then yes, you will have it. And the same thing, if you were an overeater, if you have a poor relationship with food and you don't fix your mindset with it, also, when you come off of it, that That problem that got you there, that needs to be worked on while you have the crutch. So if you're working with someone like this is the main reason we have a coach on staff that is a trained therapist that works with clients that have this so that they can be supported. And so when they come off, they not only fixed their nutrition, they are getting the nutrients that they need. They understand macronutrients and understand how to support the muscle because a lot of people that don't that lose things and start gaining weight back after is because they lost muscle. Could be they had low protein and they weren't eating enough. Could, you know, the body needed fuel so it started burning your muscle for energy. So the weight that you lost could be muscle loss. And then also as you're going through, you know, if you're not weight training, nobody loves weight training. Well, some people love weight training. Some people love weight training. But the people that are starting this generally have never weight trained or they don't want to weight train. So those people that are starting this, you have to know going into this, this is not just a commitment to take a shot. This is a commitment of, I'm gonna do this, so. I need to maintain my muscle mass by weight training and resistance training. Even if it means if you've never done it before, start with body weight, something to get going. You know, your, your food, get an idea of how to work on your food and nutrition, have somebody coaching you through it. This is something not many people understand, but the drug will deplete you of sodium and some of your micronutrients. it is necessary to be able to take something like ⁓ Elementi there was IV packet liquid IV packets anything that has that sodium potassium and magnesium To be able to support your body while you are on the drug Calvin Masters: Yeah, that's the it will it is known pretty much all the GLPs are going to deplete magnesium, potassium, B vitamins, and even iron with women. That's what they're known to do. So you want to understand that going into it. So you make sure you supplement these things and check, you know, to make sure that they're they're in a good place. And that's where the issue with the electrolytes comes in, you know. And so Brooke Masters: of you. Calvin Masters: You do want to keep a good amount of salt into your diet per day more than what the recommended dose is. I think the general recommended dose is like 2,600 milligrams. You're going to want to push that closer to like 3,500, maybe even 4,000 for an athlete. And depending on your size, right? So, you know, and if you don't do this, what will happen is one, you're going to start feeling your sleep. Brooke Masters: depending on your size. Calvin Masters: you know, you'll start waking up in the middle of the night, that's actually cortisol bumping up. And most likely because your sodium is low, which will bump the cortisol up at night time. ⁓ Brooke Masters: You can get light. Calvin Masters: but I was going camping, lightheaded, cramping, lack of energy. If you're feeling lack of energy, you're lacking nutrients. That's one thing you want to keep in mind. So you may hear people say, ⁓ you get tired. I'm, you know, bread of true tide. You shouldn't be, you should have energy on bread of true tide. If you're, if you are feeling lethargic from it, that's a deficiency. So you want to find out what that deficiency is. So I would start with supplementing those vitamins. I don't, I don't recommend taking that an iron pill. because that can push your iron too high, too fast, really quick, can end up being toxic. So I would, I would recommend getting it from just foods that have iron, like, know, kale, spinach. You could probably rattle off a bunch more of these than I can, but just it through your diet is the best bet, but keep those things in your food daily and your energy should be great. because that is one of the side effects of it is good energy even in a calorie deficit, which it worth it ⁓ there for that one thing. But things to pay attention to. Watch your digestion when you're on it. Are you still going every day? Keeping that water intake up. If the sodium's come up, you want water intake to come up as well. You know, and definitely the lifting part. I just want to go on record is just, you know, saying this is one of those examples how husband and wife don't always agree on things. But I will just say that most people, in my opinion, love working out and it's hard to get them back to. So I don't know where she came from. Brooke Masters: Thank Lots of people that are in the place that they are taking these drugs I will say are looking for the quick fix. Many people want to and it's okay because it is really cool to be able to see change in your body quickly. So just remember it is a tool. It is a tool that needs to be taught how to be used properly. I always give people the idea of like, you have a chainsaw. It does a great job at what it was designed to do. But if you put it in the hands of a toddler, it's going to do some damage. So the tool is there. It is effective. There are many of them. And those GLPs, GIPs, they're not the only peptides. There are of peptides out there. But working with somebody that can guide you with this tool so you learn how it works, so you learn how to get the best result, rather than doing it and waiting till it's too late that I've had people losing their hair, they are starting to have issues with their thyroid, they are starting to see osteoporosis, they are starting to tell me that they are having other types of health issues, and it's not the drug. It's how you used the peptide. So understanding how to set the foundations, nutrition, your movement, your hydration, how you're supplementing, making sure that your body has the micronutrients and macronutrients that it needs. Again, doing all the things, working on your mindset, understanding what your goal is and using this and understanding, am using this and I need to learn the right way to do it. So that way I can be healthy because it's one thing to be skinny and you're doing it to lose weight but you need to be healthy ⁓ know being able to lose weight so people think let me lose weight and I'll be healthy but it needs to kind of work together. Calvin Masters: Yeah, it gives you a way better opportunity to really make a great improvement in your life, you know, but you want to go into it with the right frame of mind and be responsible with it. You know, so one thing we should touch on too, is the duration of how long you would take something like this and how to know if you should even increase or stay the same. So I would say baseline for duration, think of it as a fat loss phase and a healthy fat loss phase is probably going to be about four months. You know, so I would kind of make it the goal to get done what you need to get done at four months. That's not always going to be the case with everybody. You know, some people are going to need a little bit more, but if your goal is to, you know, shut off. Uh, you know, anywhere between, you know, 10 to 30 pounds. Um, you, if you're not getting that done in four months time with this GLP, then you need to check the outside and see what you aren't doing, uh, to make it work the way that should be. And like Rick said, that doesn't mean keep increasing. Um, you know, when you're basing increases, this is very important to know. And this is another issue that I see too, with people is they get protocols, right? And it shows you start off with. you know, maybe half, it should probably be a half milligram, but I've seen it as high as two milligrams starting dose, which in my opinion is too high. And I think most people that have tried that probably agree with me, you know, and then it go up to 12 milligrams, you know, and I will say from my experience with it, we only have select people that we use these with, they need it, but the ones that have, ⁓ Only one has actually exceeded what they recommend that starting dose to be which is two milligrams only only had one person has actually gone beyond that and We've had all the success with it in that low dosage So when you're taking it one of the two things you want to keep in mind To know if it's time to increase but one has it been at least two weeks you want to think about that You don't want to just do it for a week Maybe the first week when you start at five point five milligrams see how that feels then maybe adjust it to one, right? But once you hit that baseline to one, you want to give it a couple weeks, let it run its course. And it's really going to start to kick in because of the six day half life, around ⁓ to five weeks, it builds up in the system. And you're going to feel kind of intensified at that point, the four to five weeks where you might notice more weight loss. You know, you might notice less hunger. So I wouldn't rush to get the numbers up before then because you're not seeing what you want to see. Be patient, get to week four and five, see what your body does. That's when I would start paying more attention to the adjustments. But I would try to keep it as low as you can until then, it might be too much if you go above that. And so, but some of the things you. ⁓ Brooke Masters: Just so you guys understand, excuse me, Calvin, but just to understand like what you want to be thinking. You want to be able to feel less hunger when you go to eat a meal. If you can only get two bites in, that's too much. You want to be able to get your nutrients in, to get your food in, be able to make it to the next meal and not have that mad hunger that you are like ravished, right? So you want it just that, ⁓ enough, right? That least effective dose. And like he said, you're getting to the five week mark. you have a half life. So you take a certain amount, half of it will still be there in six days when you take that second dose, which half of that will be there in six days. So that's why over, when you get to the five weeks, now you got a good amount in your system and it'll start leveling out. So you want to be thinking that it's going to slowly increase in your system. It's not going to just drop to zero when you do your next shot. Calvin Masters: Yeah. And so, you know, that's, that's one thing you want to look at then as well. so, excuse me. And you do want to make sure that you're getting all the food and and then but if it's too low, I wouldn't use that your notice and hunger as your reason to increase. Because I'm feeling hunger signals is actually a healthy thing. You want to know that it's time to eat, although that will kind of go away pretty quick. But you want to be able to eat when you when when the time comes. So if you do feel a little bit of hunger, you don't necessarily want eliminate that altogether. You know, that's actually healthy. want to have a little bit, what you're really trying to avoid is that constant craving. When the calories get lower, where you're constantly thinking about food, you know, and I'm sure a lot of you have been there. If you've gone low enough in the calories, I know my competitors have where it can, it can really kind of take over your day and take your attention span because you will eat a meal and you're automatically thinking about the next meal what that's going to be. Brooke Masters: the Calvin Masters: And that causes a lot of stress that people don't think about, additional stress that we don't need in our lives. So that part you want to kind of remove. You want to be able to have that control, but you also want to have the control of when you open up the cupboard, you see things in there. that you don't just start nibbling on things just because you're bored. You know, that's another thing that you want to pay attention to. If you see yourself do that, yes, that is part mental because it's an emotion, right? But at the same time, that emotion starts to away when you have the dosage right. also when you're going out to eat, I don't know if you're like me, but when I smell buffalo wings, ⁓ turn rabid. ⁓ ready to just eat just about anything. ⁓ that should start to go away where you have more control. So think about that for a second. If you just had that control of with food, would you be successful with that alone? That's how you want to gauge this, right? So it's not that you keep increasing the dose, even, you know, not paying attention to signals. If you have food under control and you're still at a low dose, you're doing great. You're doing great until that goes away because maybe calories had to come down a little bit more. That's your green light to do it. If you start to notice that you don't have that same control of these things. Now, if you stay on that one, you're going to spend less money because you're not using these high dosages. You're going to avoid a lot of that, that slow digestion. in issues, possible gut issues that can happen in high doses. You'll see much anytime that you hear something negative about a GLP, it's basically abuse. It's when people go too high, more than what they should have done. Or they didn't fix the things ahead of time. They went into a GLP when they already didn't even have an appetite. You know, that was a gut issue that didn't get fixed. They went into it. Now they have zero appetite. Now they're eating 300 calories a day and creating a plethora of issues. Right. ⁓ Brooke Masters: or people that have been under eating for so many years and dieting for so many years and they're taking this type of drug to lose weight but they don't understand what this does is to shut off the noise. But if you're already someone who is only eating 300 calories a day, which I did have someone that was doing that. this drug is not going to, if it does, you're going to lose muscle, you're losing bone, you're like, that's what you're losing. So sometimes it's not that, like Calvin said, if you look at the whole picture before you start the drug and where's the problem, maybe your body needed a little recovery phase. Maybe your body needed to slowly bring up calories and you can actually lose weight. So understanding the mechanism. of how this drug works and what the problem is. Like everything else, there is a tool for every job and You want to make sure you're choosing the right tool. And many of us, a lot of people that come to me also don't realize you naturally produce these hormones, these JLP, these DIPs, you naturally produce them. The problem is, is that when people eat processed foods, your body's not digesting. So it's not sending that signal to the brain. That's why you're still hungry, hungry, hungry, they're not taking foods with fiber. Fiber will the same thing. We'll start making you feel full. We'll start sending those signals. So you can do things like this to balance your blood sugar, ⁓ you can use things naturally to be able to mimic the same things. But if you need something to be able to help you, that is going to be a longer signal, stays in the body longer. That's what these drugs do. It is a similar signal, but it extends and it stays longer in your system so you can have that same effect for a longer period of time as a crutch. Calvin Masters: Yeah. And another thing to consider too, if ⁓ I know a lot of people just like fats, you know, and there's nothing wrong with that. The one thing that I would say with this that you need to be warned about it does not do greasy fats well. So if, ⁓ your fats are the majority of greasy fats, what they should not be ⁓ fats, the majority, should be the majority healthy fats. karma is going to get you on that one ⁓ because you. Yeah. Brooke Masters: So you try and go have your pizza or your burger. Calvin Masters: you will most likely start feeling nausea and have issues from greasy fats and you'll notice it right away and this could lead to throwing up and all kinds of, you know, uncomfort, you know, so, so this is another thing that I would warn you about. You can go high fats on it. Yes, you can go high fats, but those should be healthy fats. Healthy fats, I've yet to see anyone have an issue with that. That would be like avocado, oil, know, fish oil, yummy ⁓ oil, ⁓ know, salmon. So, ⁓ Brooke Masters: salmon. Calvin Masters: and flaxseed chia seed those things you can put those in you can still have a little bit of the omega-6 is you know animal fat but i would not lean towards fatty meats i would avoid those try to stay with lean meats as much as possible if you do this you'll feel much much better and have better progress. One of the things you want to think about with the GLP is it slows that digestion down. does a fat. So ⁓ fat comes in and this is why keto works for a lot of people because it takes four hours to break that food down and keeps you full. Right? So ⁓ you have something already a mechanism in your body slowing that digestion down, then you throw those greasy fats in there on top of it. What you're going to start to get is fermentation in your gut. that ⁓ Brooke Masters: gonna smell really good, really good coming back up or coming out the other end. Calvin Masters: you're going to get if you get yes, if you have been on a GLP and you have burps that smell like unholy, you know, this is what's happening. fermenting in your gut. So this is something you need to address, because this can lead to issues, you know, like H. pylori, you know, and bad bacteria build up in your intestines. So you do want to pay attention to those things. But but it's good fair warning for you when you go into that. Brooke Masters: Not nice. Calvin Masters: And then also going back to the duration of the time to use this. When you go into the cutting phase, ⁓ you do is you tie trade up as you come down if needed. Right. So as you're cutting, you tie trade up to manage the calorie deficit. ⁓ sure that you stay in point, making sure you can hit your macros. But at the same time you have control of it, right? So then when you hit the bottom of your fat loss phase and you're ready to reverse back out, actually, I recommend that you keep this GLP in, but start the same way you came down, same way you come back up, you start to titrate it back and reduce it as the calories come up, because you're going to have a hard time getting that food in if you try to maintain that same amount. So what you're doing essentially is weaning yourself off as you're increasing the calories. And if you follow this process, you will not gain fat back, you will actually most likely continue to burn body fat in that reverse all the way up. So now when you get up to your estimated maintenance calories for a five foot four female, that would probably be about 2000 calories. So you get up to that 2000 calories, you're at a good place where you can actually pull off the GLP now. know, this is, but would not recommend pulling off of it until you get back up to those calories. it will one it's going to help you maintain the weight and on to because when you come off that hunger is going to come back. if your calories are low, still, and your body hasn't started adapting to the higher calories and starting to regulate, you're going to be in a place where you could gain a lot of weight back, you know, so that's how you avoid that. As you tie trade down as you come up so that you can still get the food done, and then you come off. I will say to when we were talking about labs a little bit that certain GLP is like, you know, like ready to tie, for example, it will go in and it will, it will in a healthy body. Like I said, this is why it's important to fix, make sure your body's in a good place going into it. When it's ready, it will improve your blood sugar levels, your A1C, your insulin, all those things, it's going to improve your cholesterol, it's going to improve your liver enzymes, it's going to improve your blood pressure because you have the insulin resistance, you pull it out. So it will do these things, but again, you don't want to just depend on this to do that. You still want to put the work in to get the other areas cover all the bases so that it does happen efficiently. And that could require bringing in a second peptide to help you get the job done on that. There's some great ones for that. They do different things. ⁓ but again, that circles back around to kind of know what the issues are going into it. So, you know what to work on to fix that. If you do these things, I can guarantee you whoever this is listening, if you follow these simple things, you're going to see a body that you haven't seen in probably decades when you come out of this and your energy is going to be back and you're going to feel really good. And then you're going to send us letters and messages saying, thank you. You guys are the best and stuff, you know. Brooke Masters: Yep. Yep. Thank you. And just so you guys understand too, know Calvin had mentioned like the four month, but you know, again, if you have someone that needs to lose like more weight, more than 50 pounds, like it may take a few of those processes of going into a cut, coming out and doing a recovery phase. know, so it may take more. Right. may take more of those cycles that you go into a cut, come out of a reverse, go back into a cut, go back into a reverse. And if you have somebody there to guide you and show you the process, that's how you have those sustainable results. And while you're doing this, you know, you are working with somebody that can, again, coach you with mindset, coach you with nutrition, coach you with your training. So that way you learn how to keep that healthy body. So when you do reach that goal, you keep it and you keep it forever. Calvin Masters: Yeah. Brooke Masters: because that is the ultimate goal. Again, not that you're on a drug forever, but that you have the ability to do this on your own and you understand the mechanics of it and you understand what is needed to be able to get the best result with the least amount of side effects. Calvin Masters: Yeah, and I mentioned that timeline to kind of give you just a base idea. Of course, like Brooke said, some people have a lot more weight to lose, and you can stay on longer. They've done studies. I think the one that I'm watching right now has been two years long. And these people that are on these studies continue to lose weight. Because one of the things that reticulatide is known to do is help your body continue to burn fat, even when it's been in a deficit for a long time. This is not normally something that we would recommend doing. Because it does cause issues in other areas when you're in it for too long, but this enables you to be able to stay in it actually longer to achieve this more safely. You know, so that's one thing you want to keep in mind, but you can still check labs. would recommend every six months when you're using the GLP or anything. ⁓ would recommend every six months in general anyway, if you're trying to fix your body, you know, for your own records, but But this is pretty important to kind of have a baseline understanding of how long you should be on it for and the things to watch out for when you're on there. Brooke Masters: Yep. All right, everybody. So I hope you guys got some value out of this. ⁓ If you did, we would appreciate it if you would give us a review and definitely follow us and check out the next episode. So thank you again, everybody, for joining us. And until next time, we'll see you guys later. Calvin Masters: Bye bye.
